As far as I can tell, it lasts until you upgrade to gold, so I recommend getting all the stuff you can out of it, before going gold.
you have to get a gold membership and you need an ether net cable when you get those you put your ether net cable in to your modem on your computer and the you just read the instructions on your membership card but you can only play games online with the gold membership so don't buy the silver membership.
