When a process of oxidation takes place the element acquires a unit positive charge. The number of protons are more than the number of electrons in an element which gives the element its positive charge as the protons have a positive charge.

lack of electrons.

though "positive" charge is followed in a circuit, what is actually happening is electrons are moving backward, AWAY from the direction of positive charge.

therefore, positive charge is the result of the absence of a negative charge.

the answer n wether u should add or subtract depends on the magnitude of the numbers(never minding the signs)...say for instance u have 7-2..your answer would be +5....this is because 7 is the greatest number in magnitude

Electric charge comes in two types, called positive and negative.

A negatively charged object is placed within a positive electric field. what happens to the object?

Electric Field between positive and negative charges. If the Electric Field in which both the positive and negative charges are present is stronger than the Electric Field between the two charges we are talking about, the the negative charge will move away from the positive charge in that positive direction of the field. If not, then the negative charge will get attracted to the positive charge and stay at the position of the positive charge. It will be pulled toward the source of the electric field. (Novanet)

What is is true about electric field around an electric charge?

Everything. A positive charged particle generates an electric field equivalent to the work done in bringing a unit positive charge from infinity to near that charge.
