Yes, along with dozens of other things.
Problems with the oxygen sensors are quite likely to cause emissions test problems. The car computer cannot properly adjust the air/fuel mixture to regulate the emissions.
That will cause you to fail an emissions inspection. Anything which triggers the CEL will, because everything which triggers it will adversely impact the emissions system on that vehicle.
Yes. Any faulty emissions control sensor, including knock sensors, will result in an automatic fail of any emissions control test, period. It doesn't even matter if your vehicle's actual exhaust emissions are within acceptable limits. In most cases, once it is determined that a sensor is bad, the test is ended immediately, and considered failed.
I would try oxygen sensor but you need to put it on the machine which will tell you for sure. good luck
Usually it is the O2 sensor
If there are no other problems and the vehicle is failing the NOX emissions test, it's probably running too lean. Check the EGR valve, fuel pressure and the Oxygen sensor.
It may fail the emissions test.
Yes, a bad ignition coil / misfire will cause an unburned mixture of gas/air to go into cat converter which will than combust in it and cause damage to either catalitic converter, oxygen sensor(s) or both. J.Dropic
The first indication of a failed oxygen (O2) sensor are warning lights to check or service the engine. A check engine light or saved problem code such as O2 problem can cause the vehicle to fail inspections. O2 sensors are an emissions component. The vehicle may also lose performance, fuel economy, and may damage other components.
Yes, it can if faulty or missing.
there could be many reasons that it would fail emmissions: such as sparks are bad or fouled, the spark plug wires are bad, the coil pack may need replaced,or your fuel injectors may need cleaned. If this doesnt work and you are getting the approx gas mileage, check your exhast system or your oxygen sensor.
The computer has detected a problem with the emissions controls. Have the computer scanned for trouble codes. Get this fixed, as it can cause other parts to fail, as in, the catalytic converter, O2 sensor.
