the soul cannot leave the body there is just a confusion in what makes up or the difference between a living person and a dead person. a human being is considered as a combination of the flesh that makes up his form and the breath of life that was breathed into his body to make him a living soul so when he dies the body goes back to earth where it came from and god takes back his breath of life and the person is dead. he becomes as if he did not exist for his memory is lost foerever he can not interact with the living because only when these two(body made from earth + breath of life from god) are joined together does one becomes a living soul.
