Stevens bolt-action with a cylinder.... What are all the markings on the gun? sales@countrygunsmith.net
The Stevens 311 is a double barrel shotgun.
If it is a stock gun it probably has a open cylinder unless someone has added a choke.
If your Stevens is a bolt action, it is NOT a visible loader. If it has any part (perhaps the barrel) that is marked as a visible loader, that part has been replaced.

I can't find a Stevens 851 listed in the Blue Book or Standard Catalog. To find out more, see if you can get all the markings on the gun and consider the action (single shot, double barrel, bolt action, etc).
