I'm not sure, however I have read a study (I cannot remember the name (sorry this isn't very helpful)) which demonstrated that chimpanzees understood the concept of fairness. In the test a chimp was asked to pick between two bowls of sweets of unequal size. Whichever bowl they chose was given to a different chimp, which would send the chooser into what appears to be a fit of rage, often even followed by sulking. This seems to point towards chimps having a sense of fairness which could be extrapolated to some kind of primitive morality.
(Needless to say the chimps soon figured out which bowl to choose.)

Yes. Fox is planning on launching "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" in 2014.
Without principles, individuals lacking a moral sense may struggle to make ethical decisions based on consistent values and beliefs. They may make decisions based on convenience or personal gain rather than considering the impact on others or society. This can lead to unethical behavior and a lack of trust from others.
