No..and anyone claiming to be able to make things like this happen is a scam.

Your credit report will report BK for at least 10 years...it can be more if the company asking for the report requests it.

A credit report is a PRIVATE service for it;'s customers, compiling the records and public information about people. Their product, accurate and complete reports would be useless/worthless if the people they are reporting could decide what was one them or chnage the past as they wished.

How do you fix a bankruptcy that you did not report?

A bankruptcy is not reported to the credit bureaus by the person who filed the bankruptcy. There are hundreds of operators of databases that collect information from public records and sell them to other institutions such as credit bureaus. Therefore if the bankruptcy is valid, it will be reported and placed in the public records portion of the consumer's credit report and will remain there for the required 10 year time limit. If it is a reporting error by the CRA the consumer should send a letter of dispute, with documenting evidence and demand the bankruptcy be removed from their credit report.

After ten years can bankruptcy come off your credit report?

Bankruptcy should be expunged from the credit report after the ten year from the BK discharge has expired. Credit bureaus are not as efficient or accurate as one would hope, therefore it may be necessary for the consumer to contact the CRA and request the entry be removed, be prepared to submit substantiating documentation. Consumer's should keep in mind that it is wise to monitor their credit history reportage on a regular basis.

How is a bankruptcy removed from your credit report after your 7-10 years is up?

After the ten year anniversary passes, contact the CBR and advise them to remove it. IT WILL NOT GO AWAY BY ITSELF! You have to instruct them to remove it after the 10 years is up.

Will items listed after the discharge date due to mistakes by the credit companies affect the 7-10 year removal of bankruptcy from a credit report?

As far as I know, nothing affects a Chapter 7 bankruptcy's removal from a credit report after 10 years from the date on which the bankruptcy was filed: once 10 years elapse from the filing date, the Chapter 7 should be removed from the report. Please note that nothing in this posting or in any other posting constitutes legal advice; this is simply my understanding of the facts, which I do not warrant, and I am not suggesting any course of action or inaction to any person.

Will your credit score go up after your chapter 7 bankruptcy passes the 10 year mark?

Adding to below--it shouldn't even be on your report after 7 yrs. Lots of times it drops off before that. Yes, but having the bankruptcy on your credit report is not as bad as most people would think. After a year or so following the bankruptcy discharge (about 4 months after you file) a person can get credit for new cars and for new credit cards even with a bankruptcy on their record, and after another year can even get a home loan, but that is only if they have good present income.

If you filed bankruptcy in 1997 in NC do you fall under the 10 or 7 year rule for removal on credit report?

How do I get Equifax to remove 7 year old dismissed Chapter 13 Bankruptcy?

You can write them or call and request that your bankruptcy be removed. They do not have to remove it, however. It is generally the amount of time that it falls off your credit or is not considered when being looked at for credit.

If your bankruptcy is nine and a half years old will it be taken off your credit report when it reaches the 10th year automatically?

Not necessarily. Sometimes it can take a credit bureau a few months (or even longer) to take an old record off your credit report. The best advice I can give is to request a credit report after 10 years have passed. If the bankruptcy is still listed, you can dispute the record directly with the credit bureau. You can get a free credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com or from most housing counseling agencies. You can find these agencies by looking on www.hud.gov.

If a Chapter 13 has been discharged and it has been more than 7 years since it was filed once it is removed from your credit report will that make your score go up and if so approximately how much?

It may go up, but not much. Each year after the bankruptcy, the bankruptcy is given less and less weight in the credit scoring process. Don't be surprised if your score goes up only 10-15 points. Your main gain is the loss of the stigma of bankruptcy when your report is actually reviewed by a prospective creditor.
