Can a betta fish live in a 2 gallon bowl?

Bettas, like most other fish, like to swim around. A single betta needs a 5-10 gallon tank with a heater and filter for optimum health. Plants and caves make it more interesting for him and a couple of rasboras might work, depending on his aggressive tendencies. They can't be kept with other bettas, but do appreciate tank mates if they have room. The red ones tend to be more aggressive. If he is aggressive, he will not do well with other fish unless he's in at least a 30 gallon tank. People tend to think they don't live long, but if they have enough room, clean water, and consistent temperature, they will be much less stressed and can live for a lot longer than expected.

They can live in 2 gallons, but you can live in a bathroom if someone feeds you. It would probably shorten your life and certainly make it less healthy.

For a few months maybe...A year at the most. That is nothing compared to 5 years (how long bettas usually live for). A 5 gal tank with some ghost shrimp, a heater, filter and real plants would give a betta the best life ever :D

You COULD but I keep my betta, some ghost shrimp, and three Cory cats in a five gallon with lots of hiding places and short/medium/tall silk plants that the betta loves to "weave" through. I'm also purchasing a 2.5 gal for a single betta and some ghost shrimp though. I persoanlly think a betta will thrive in a five gal but can live on average of about 2 years in a 2 or 2.5 gal. You should do water changes twice a week because ammonia builds up fast in smaller tanks and make sure the betta won't snack on any ghost shrimp if you add some. I feed my betta baby betta pellets (he is small for his age) and the corys get flakes (soaked), while the betta snacks on some of the flakes but the corys get a lot of food...The shrimp just eat left overs and are great for that! So I would say go for it. You'll have lots more fun with something that you can decorate and add more fish too though, like a 5+ while if your money/space is limited, a 2 gal will work.

What a crowd! Corydoras need at least 30 gallons to live a healthy life. You are way overstocked with all those fish in such a small space. Again, like living in someone's bathroom. It can be done, but isn't fair. They're not criminals, so please stop treating then as if they are. This is bold because it comes naturally from your bold. I won't change it, but you might want to. It's not as if either of us is worth listening to while we yell. Corys are schooling fish and cannot school without enough room: at least a 30 long.

no! beta's are agresive fish. if you put them in seprate bowls next to each other they will change colors to show agresion. if you put them together they will tear each other apart until one of them is dead.

They can (for only a fraction of the time they can survive in better conditions) but they are likely to be unhappy and stressed in such a small environment.

The extreme minimum size for a proper betta aquarium is 2 gallons, but an even bigger tank would be ideal.

A normal life span for a Betta splendens is around 5 years. A Betta in a bowl will last about half that time if you are lucky. The basic rule for keeping fish successfully is 1 inch of fish needs 1 gallon of water. Although it is common practice to do so with Bettas. No fish will appreciate or enjoy being kept in a tiny container like a fish bowl.

Betta fish and goldfish can not live together! Bettas are a tropical species of fish that require a heater and a bare minimum of a five gallon aquarium (with a filter!) while goldfish live in a completely different temperature range. The pair would not do well together because of the temperature differences and their need to live in something significantly bigger than a bowl. I understand that it is a common misunderstanding that they can live in bowls, but the fish will not have a good life! Please do the right thing and never keep these two types of fish together, no matter the temperament of the betta.
