When they are young they are OK but as the young males start to develop they will start to fight. I found the best way to avoid damaged fins from fighting is to keep a very close watch and as soon as you think a fishes fins are getting a bit bigger than the others around it, assume it is a male and put it in its own tank. If you are wrong it doesn't matter, because it can be put back it it's a female but if you are right you have stopped the fish having damaged fins which lowers its value.
