No one knows for sure, because everything we know about black holes is alltheories but most theories say yes, because of the intense pressure pushing on you, because once you go past the event horizon, your body will stretch, with your feet going in first.

you will be dead long before you reach the black hole. when you pass the event horizon gravity will pull harder on the part of you body that is closet to the black hole and as scientist call it you will be [spaghettified]

If you ever got close to a black hole, it would certainly kill you. Good thing for us that there are none close by!

You wouldn't die of the extremes of gravity, or of the tidal forces that would rip your body to shreds and stretch you like spaghetti; the area anywhere close to the event horizon of a black hole would be seething with instantly-lethal levels of gamma radiation and X-rays.

Another angle:

Human beings are designed and constructed to operate under the conditions found

on the surface of the earth.

Take a human being more than about 5 miles away from the surface of the earth

without high-tech assistance and protection, and he dies. Doesn't matter what else

is or isn't around.

There's not another body in the solar system where a human being could stand

and live.

Draw near to any normal star . . . instant death.

Approach any neutron star or white dwarf . . . instant death.

Get within a few miles of a black hole . . . instant death.

Not because any of them has slimy green tentacles waiting to reach out and

grab you, but because you and I are delicate organisms that can only survive

in a very restricted environment within strict limits of temperature, gravitation,

radiation levels, and gas composition and pressure.

Yes, they can. But it depends on the type of black hole. For example a regular black hole would stretch you until you were as thin as spaghetti ( let's just say it'll " spaghettify " you. ). Super massive black holes however, won't. If you were to bungee-jump into one, you might live past the event horizon, which is the point of no return. But it gets incredibly hot in the singularity ( the middle of the black hole.). In fact, it gets as hot as 350 million degrees Fahrenheit.

So, to put it all in a nutshell, yes, black holes CAN kill you.

A black hole could theoretically kill someone, if they got close enough. However no human being has ever been in the vicinity of a black hole, hence nobody has ever been killed by a black hole.

black holes suck everything in including light, air and oxygen so whatever is on the overside you can be pretty sure that without the oxygen to breath that you will die. plus if a blackhole did occur in youe area you would most likely not survive the transaction through the blackhole with everything else flying towards you at the same time.

They will only kill you if you get very close to it, which is unlikely to happen. The way they will kill you - if you happen to fall into one - is by tearing you apart, due to the difference in gravity between the part of you that is closer to the black hole, and the part that is farther away. All this will happen before you collide with the center of the black hole.

Of course it can! If you are to close, the Black hole will aspirate you. In the end, it will rip you appart.
