Yep - it can. I caught my foot on the sidewalk of the post office and landed directly on my left knee. It was instant, excruciating pain and horrible swelling within a few seconds. I went to the ER and and got xrays and was checked out by the doctor, but nothing was broken or torn. I ended up with a huge hematoma. Six weeks later, the bruising is gone, but my knee is still numb over most of my kneecap and slightly below it toward the outside. My family practitioner says it's most likely nerve damage or compression from the swelling and it should resolve, but it will take quite a bit of time.
Depending on where the clot is located, the answer is yes. In fact, numbness is a symptom of clotting due to the restriction of blood to the appendage.
A blood clot in the leg occurs within a large vein in the leg causing blood flow to be blocked. If you are experiencing pain in your leg and notice that it is swelling or becoming red, then you have a blood clot. If you notice these symptoms, you should seek medical treatment as soon as possible. Leaving a clot untreated could cause
cellulitis
If there is a clot in the leg, a DVT (deep vein thrombosis), when it breaks loose it could cause a pulmonary embolus, which is a medical emergency, and if severe enough could cause death.
Impedes blood flow to & from leg ... so you might lose that leg. Also, if the clot breaks loose it can interfere with systemic or pulmonary circulation - in which case you might die.
my leg is not numb and cold. however, if your leg is numb and cold, it could be for any number of reasons. lack of circulation could be a cause. if it continues for an extended amount of time, i would recommend seeing a doctor.
Yes
If you sit for too long, it's possible to develop a blood clot in a leg, and that clot could get loose and work its way to the chest and cause a pulmonary embolism, preventing your blood from picking up any oxygen.
Highly unlikely you will suffer a blood clot.
No, because blood clots travel but you should look at a more professional website for that.
Swelling can be caused by a blood clot, best to go to the doc...
Depending on what you were just doing, there's a lot of things that could cause numbness in the leg. A real common cause of that sensation is if you had just shaved your legs, or if you were sitting in an awkward position.
it could be just a pinched nurve or a blood clot but it also could be something bad u should get it checked out
