you have to take the plastic cover off. more then likely you'll have to cut it off (thats what i did), then underneath that there's a bolt you'll remove and the shift knob will come off.

On my 1991 Accord it is on the wall to the left of the clutch pedal. Just turn the knob and pull off the cover. A chart showing which one is which is on the inside of the cover.
