Most named brand cables work fine and you should never pay full retail for a HDMI cable. You do not have to purchase a PS3 cable and many of the other Sony cables work fine. Currently Walmart has the Sony HDMI Cable w/ USB Cable Pack (PS3) for $34.97 and it is the same price as just the Sony 6.5' HDMI Cable (PS3) and without the extra charging cable
