If (as I gather) this ex-wife has custody of the son, she can refuse to bring him to a home where she expects to find an unhealthy social environment. Of course, this could be motivated purely by jealousy rather than by a legitimate concern for the welfare of the child. In any event, the boyfriend in question does not have to make his girlfriend move out, but the ex-wife can refuse to allow her son to move in with him. They each get to decide what they are willing to accept. If the boyfriend insists on living with both his girlfriend and his son, his only recourse is to ask the courts to award full custody to him, which they will only do if they believe that the ex-wife is not a good mother.
If you feel comfortable with the invite to your boyfriends house, then you should go. Only you know the whole situation and can decide if the timing is right for you to go to his house or not.
