Butter is made from milk. I can not be made from olive oil. Olive oil comes from olives and butter comes from a milk of some short (usually from cow's milk). If you are thinking of the margarine made with olive oil this is likely the spreadable kind that you buy in tub. This is not the same thing either. I think that it is vegetable oils whipped with water and salt and thickeners. Shortening is hydrogenated vegetable oil. You will have more luck substituting butter or lard for your shortening.
No. Olive oil has a distinct flavor. If you need to substitute butter you should use margerine or shortening
Shortening is the fat or oil used in cooking. It can range from lard to olive oil, depending on the recipe.
Yes. You can also use olive oil, margarine, or veggie oil. I actually prefer using butter when baking bread because it makes the bread taste like its already "buttered".
Yes, butter may be used to prevent cookies from sticking to the baking sheet. Cookie recipes that contain plenty of butter or shortening (rule of thumb: more than 1/2 cup) probably do not need to be baked on a greased (buttered) sheet. In fact, many cookies need to be baked on cool, ungreased baking sheets to prevent their spreading more than they should.
Not really, because olive oil has quite a distinctive taste which will impact negitively upon the taste of the cake.
Not really. They have different properties and cook differently. You can sometimes use olive oil to saute something in place of butter, but if the recipe calls for butter, use butter. Sometimes you can substitute vegetable oil or canola oil, but not olive oil.
actually applesauce is the best, no joke
There are a number of ingredients which can be used to provide the fat in baked goods. It often depends on what you are baking. Some of the most common fats for baked goods are butter, margarine, shortening, vegetable oil and lard (lard is rendered animal fat, and makes excellent pie crusts). Some that have more recently begun being used are coconut oil and olive oil.
No, Grandee Olive Butter is no longer made.
Vegan butters like butters made from nuts, vegetable fat, sunflower seed butter, olive oil. These are all cholesterol free. Hope this helps.
Margarine, Crisco, lard, or solidified olive oil butter.
It is butter and olive oil.
