I would advise not giving your cairn terrier potato chips even if unsalted, although one or two wouldn't do any harm. I own a cairn terrier myself and of course as eaten chips that have hit the floor, even ate several lightly salted ones. Point is Don't give your dog to many, but the odd one here and there should not be a problem so you shouldn't be concered. But keep in mind if you expierience any whining or vomiting, unusual things after your dogs eats one i would stop
Hopes this helps :)
