it could, but it's not easy.

high CO2 will produce acidosis (which will increase respiration and lower CO2)

But if the CO2 gets VERY high, it will displace O2 and asphixiate you.

Yes, if it is concentrated, e.g. you are breathing nothing but it. Remember though, a large portion of the air we breathe is Carbon Dioxide. So, yes in large quantaties. That's why we need plants to live:

Humans breathe out Carbon dioxide > Plants breathe in carbon dioxide > Plants breathe out oxygen > humans breathe in oxygen > Humans breathe out Carbon dioxide > Plants breathe in carbon dioxide > and so on

Humans rely on oxygen to live. If oxygen is removed the body suffocates. Without oxygen the brain cannot function and the person will lose consciousness , then the entire body eventually ceases to function.
