Can carpal tunnel be caused by head injury?

Not exactly.There is a long nerve(median nerve) that exits out of your neck bones(vertebrae),travels through your shoulder,upper and lower arm,through your wrist area (called the carpal tunnel) and branches out into your thumb,and first 3 fingers.

If you have some type of neck injury..say a ruptured disc at the location where this nerve originates,then you can have symptoms that mimic carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS).

True CTS is from prolonged pressure/inflammation on the median nerve at the carpal tunnel area in your wrist .

No I never have heard of this, CTS has to due with compression on the median nerve in the wrist. You can have a neck injury or disc problem in the neck that can mimic carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms in the arm and hand..ie like a pinched nerve.

Carpel tunnel syndrome is a condition that is caused by repeated actions over a period of time to the same part of the body, usually the hands and wrists. While it is possible that a car accident could weaken an area and make carpal tunnel more likely in the future, it is unlikely that the accident itself would cause the condition.
