Can ceramic tile grout on a counter top be taken out and replaced with new grout easily with out damaging the ceramic tile?

This is a project you could do yourself. First you will need a grout line scraper. (they can be found in the flooring dept. of any hardware store ex. Lowe's Home Depot) Next you will need to identify what type of grout you have. ex sanded unsanded or could be just caulk... Easiest way is just to feel it. If its rough sandy feeling its sanded, if its smooth its unsanded, if its smooth and rubbery feeling it's just caulk. Next you will need to scrape the old grout out. Use the scraper to remove the grout taking caution not to damage the tile. Best advise is to start in an inconspicuous area to practice technique and more you scrape better you will get. Also a little water can help the scraper. If its sanded grout this process will be tough and depending on the size of your counter top might not be worth it. Next pick the new colored grout you want. (Lowe's Home Depot or a local flooring store) Pick up necessary tools for mixing and applying grout. (you will need a mixer grouting float sponge for clean up and grout seal for stains) Talk to someone in the flooring dept to make sure you have everything before you leave. Don't want to get home and realize you need something because grout does dry quick depending on conditions. Give the grout 6 to 8 hours to cure completely. Done.
