yes and no, it is filtered to remove more of the fat and has spices and herbs added for flavor and a lot of salt. Chicken boiled in water is just that chicken boiled in water.

To make Chicken broth you can use a whole chicken or parts of the chicken. I use the backs as this is the part not many like to eat but it has a lot of meat on it. I save them in the freezer until I have 10 or so.

Put chicken in large pot, add enough water to cover.

Add whole or chopped it doesn't matter,

1 onion, 2 stalks of celery, 2 carrots, 1Tlb minced or 2 cloves garlic, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning or sage, 2-3 tsp salt.

Bring to boil stirring occasionally, reduce heat, cover and simmer for a couple of hours. Stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, remove chicken to platter or dish let cool until your able to handle to remove meat and discard the skin and bones. As for the broth let it cool enough to handle as well, then pour it through a sieve or strainer to remove vegetables and any large seasoning left in it. Let cool completely then remove fat from top and discard the fat You can also add ice cubes to it to help fat solidify.

This is better then store bought but store bought works when you don't have time to cook. Freeze the broth in quart size bags to use whenever you need it.

Is there a substitute to chicken broth?

I use McCormick's All-Vegetable Chicken Bouillon cubes....no meat, but has a nice flavor. They also come in All-Vegetable Beef cubes. They disolve quickly in hot water and can be used anywhere you'd use chicken (or beef) broth.

Is chicken broth same as chicken soup?

Stock is made by boiling the bones of an animal while broth is made by boiling the meat and bones. Both are often flavored with herbs and vegetables like onion, carrot and celery. Both can have salt or seasonings added. Both can be used interchangeably.

Can beef broth substitute chicken broth?

Physically yes. There isn't very much of a chemical difference between the two (i.e. your dish won't explode if you substitute beef for chicken). However, your dish will taste very different, as beef broth is generally heavier and saltier tasting.

Can chicken broth cause salmonella?

Yes, if the chicken used in the broth has salmonella, then it is possible that the broth will have it as well.

Is there a difference between broth and stock when cooking soup?

Yes - broth is not as rich as stock, which is boiled for hours to extract the most flavor from the meat/bones/vegetables it is made from. That is why broth is typically less expensive than stock. Both can be used to make soup from - but stock will produce a richer flavor than broth.

What is the diference between chicken broth and chicken stock?

Don't substitute bouillon cubes for chicken stock in cooking, you won't like the results. Chicken stock is made by cooking roasted chicken bones, sometimes in broth, and reducing until there is a flavorful base which is often used for gravies, soup stock and the like. Bouillon cubes on the other hand are intensely salty and the chicken flavor in them is often artificially derived (and it tastes like it, too). There's really no comparison. Use canned broth if you have to, or commercially produced stock, there are even some reduced soup bases you can buy at places like Smart and Final if you have to, but don't use bouillon instead. The taste is wrong, and its way too salty.

How do you make white stock?

A white beef stock is much like a white chicken stock, the only difference between a white and dark chicken stock being that the bones are blanched first instead of roasted. Though entirely possible by following a chicken stock recipe with beef bones, often the large amounts of impurities in beef bones cloud or darken the white stock. Therefore veal bones are often used instead.

Can you use chicken soup as broth?

Yes chicken soup can be used as broth. More than likely the soup will already have salt in it so if your recipe calls for extra salt you might not need as much. Just add in seasonings and salt according to taste
