Biting off a taste bud?

It would be difficult to bite off a taste bud. If you are reffering to the bumps on your tongue those are called papillae. These are not the taste buds, however, some of them are associated with taste buds. The papillae are surrounded by a moat and on the wall of the papillae in the moat are the taste buds. So you would have to cut a papillae somewhat deep in order to have taken the taste bud with it. Assuming the taste bud left with the papillae it should regenerate, eventually. As mentioned only some papillae have taste buds. In humans only the circumvallate papillae, fungiform papillae, and foliate papillae have taste buds on their walls. drazx is the original author of this answer

How do you get rid of enlarged circumvallate papillae?

I just noticed in the last 3 days and first I thought it was some kind of HPV but then a count them they are 8 and now I know they are the circumvallate papillae that I have not seen before. I can correlate that I started using Listerine daily for the last two weeks. I will supend it as I am certain it is the cause. Before I didnt use Listerine and I didnt know I had them. Check what you have change recently that can correlate to the time where you start noticing them. Maybe some medicated throught candies, mouth sprays. another answer to the question, a cause I just read about, after searching the web for the past few hours about my enlarged circumvallate papillae is smoking. That explains it for me. READ: i read that probiotics are good to use so i went to walmart an i bought the brand name sustenex daily probiotics. after two days of use i already can tell it has helped. i had the bumps swell on the back of my tongue an i thought i had some type cancer, i done research to find it isn't that. i really think it is from the digestive system. i would get a feeling of being short breath, and it seem like my throat was closing up and when i looked in the mirror at my throat i could see alot of swelling bumps in the back of throat and down my throat. i would wake up with bad breath and mucos build up, i didn't this morning an i am happy. anyone try this an if it helps you please pass the information on so we can beat this horrible beast.
