not if you re pack the bearings!
No, main bearing noise is a rumble Throw out/release bearing for the clutch will only be heard when the clutch pedal is depressed. If you hear the noise without the clutch pedal being depressed, it is most likely the gearbox first motion shaft bearing that is at fault. First motion shaft bearing noise usually goes away when the clutch pedal is pressed.
Any bearing ball or race that is not in good shape, worn, cracked, insufficiently lubricated.Over tightening the bearing can cause overheatingMissalignment is a fault (thoug not of the bearing itself)Dirt

generally speaking if the noise dissapears with your foot on the clutch it indicates a fault with the gearbox input/primary shaft bearing which could involve complete strip down of box in some cases. the reason the noise dissapears is that by putting the clutch down you are removing the load from the gearbox (transmission-US) hope this helps robb
Fault with the clutch probably.
The fan clutch may be at fault or if the fan shroud is damaged or missing may cause those syptoms.
The clutch slave cylinder is probably at fault. Replacement is necessary to fix problem. Transmission must be removed to gain access to the slave cylinder.
If your radiator fan is electric, loss of electrical power can cause it to stop working such as a break in one of the wires. There can also be a fault in the speed controller thermostat that is not signaling the fan to turn on. If the fan won't move at all and cannot be manually tuned, the internal bearing may have failed. If your radiator fan is mechanically attached to the engine, the fan clutch can be faulty and not engage.
