Yes it can! but it also depends if its repealed!
Motor oil will soften the rubber bushings if allowed to absorb. Clean it up asap.
Motor oil does in fact freeze. Most motor oil never actually reaches the point where it is cold enough to freeze though.
Winter or cold temperatures.
Stainless Steel, Spring Steel, Iron, Wood, and a bit of Motor Oil.
Low viscosity oil flows easier when it is cold but become thinner when it is hot.
Most springs are made of Oil-tempered steel, and there are some made of galvanized steel. The best ones are oil tempered because the are hot drawn wire and there for don't lose their tension like the cold drawn galvanized wire. Oil tempered springs do require oil of some kind to keep rust off. Use 3 and 1 oil or motor oil works well, just do not use a penetrating oil like wd-40.
It flows better in cold conditions.
It is a multi-viscosity oil that is 5 weight when it is cold and becomes 30 weight when it is hot.
It is a sling to hold oil It is the little peace of steel usually found on the bottom of the connecting rod. It dips into the oil and slings the oil on to the moving parts to keep the motor lubed.
A 97 Chevy Cavalier can take standard 10w30 motor oil as it provides good all around performance. A lower viscosity oil is more desirable in cold weather.
