I think that it is actually illegal to obtain two different insurance policies on one business. This is because if something happened you could collect from two companies.
Many companies also have policies about practices such as giving and receiving gifts
Many companies have policies about political and charitable contributions
Companies develop policies generally to help them run efficiently in achieving their objectives

Many insurance companies offer car insurance nationwide. In Canada, it is illegal to operate a car on public roadways that is not adequately insured. There is an insurance company called Nationwide that sells policies online through its website.
Participating policies are life insurance policies that pay dividends, where dividends enable you (the policyholders) to participate in the insurance company's favorable experiences (such as higher than expected investment returns or lower than expected operation.) Non-participating policies, historically belong to the stock companies where the company's favorable expenses were paid to the stock holders, rather than the people who own policies within the insurance company. Even though the participating policies were mostly offered by the the mutual insurance companies, due to consumer appeals to receive dividends, stock companies also started offering participating policies. You should keep in mind that the dividends are not guaranteed and it is illegal for insurance agents to make future projections (where the participating policies also tend to have little higher premiums.)
Many insurance companies offer umbrella policies, including Allstate, State Farm, Geico, and Progressive.
Their are multiple companies that offer affordable auto insurance policies. The most recommended companies are 'Geico', 'Progressive' and 'Esurance' according to several reviews.
