Computers and robots driven by computers require a programmer to specifically give them a set of instructions or parameters in which to execute a set of instructions.
Without humans, computers and robots can not function for long.
Not to mention there are many jobs that require more critical thinking than computers are currently capable of.
If somehow, in a distant future it was possible to create a perfect Artificial Intelligence that could match the abilities of the human brain, then yes, in theory robots could control the world. This will not happen during our lifetime (and will probably never happen because the human brain and thought processes are very complicated)
