the answer may vary considering the size of your dog and the amount adminstered to him. i can't think of a reason to give a dog cough syrup besides coughing. i would be sure a little amount won't hurt dogs are strong creatures with strong bellies. i do not recommened high doses they may cause doggie hallucinations. and UFO sitings!
