depending on the year of your santa fe. i am a service tech at a Hyundai dealership and i know that they do have a homelink mirror available for santa fe's which can be programmed to open garages/gates etc. . i would contact your local Hyundai dealer
One can program the mirror garage door opener on a Hyundai by pushing the home link button first and holding it. It will then flash slowly with a red light on the mirror. One second later, point the garage opener to the mirror and push the open button.
pull up to face your garage door hold the mirror button in and the garage door opener in until the red light on the mirror turns green. viola

It can be pretty eary to install a overhead garage door opener but to be on the safe side it is a better idea to have a professional do it for safety
It depends, are you installing a gate opener, garage opener or a opener for a house door? What make and model is it, where is it being located, what will it need for power, what will it need for structure?

If it has dip switches inside you just need to set them the same as your receiver on the opener, otherwise you can use the learn option on the opener to make it learn the new remote.
