  • Yes, extreme grief can be a motive for murder (still against the law.) Example: If a drunk driver ran over someone's daughter or worse yet murdered someone's daughter then it is usually the father that could retaliate and murder the person who killed his daughter out of grief and rage or simply believing in an 'eye for an eye.'
  • Another View: Unless the retaliatory "grief-stricken act' occurred within an extremely short timeframe after the original event (i.e.: seconds to mere minutes), while such a defense could be attempted by the defense, I seriously doubt that it would succeed. AND - it would most certainly notprevent the perpetrator arrested and being charged with Homicide.
