I hope to have a proper answer to this question soon.

I was prescribed 100mg flecainide twice a day, everything seemed to be fine. After a month I noticed that I had gone into atrial fibrillation and since I knew the onset was very recent I took three 100mg flecainide as advised by my doctor. I went back to sleep and when I woke up my arrhythmia was gone but I felt a little unwell. I checked my BP and is was 190/105 which I found almost unbelievable and quite frightening. I did my best to stay calm and have a stress free day and it slowly fell but I noticed that my usual systolic pressure was a lot higher than usual 140 - 150 / 75 instead of my usual average of 125/75.

I have temporarily stopped taking the flecainide and my systolic BP has fallen by 10 - 15 in the last two days. I will be seeing my doctor soon and find out if there is anything different that needs to be done to avoid arrhythmia and high BP.

Male, 46, lone paroxysmal AF (four times in five years), BP usually 125/75, resting pulse 55.
