A black moor and a comet goldfish can readily mate together. I have successfully bred them myself in a 60litre tank. However if you are expecting fancy goldfish you may be disappointed. The genes for the black moor are recessive, which means the majority of your fish will be normal goldfish. Most of my youngsters have not yet changed colour yet so I am still waiting to see whether they will all be gold, or whether I will get some black colouration. good luck!!
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Because the black moor is a fancy double tailed variety of goldfish, they are slow and clumsy and will not be able to compete as well for food against a single tail speedy comet. They CAN be housed together, but because of the black moor's special needs it isn't recommended.
Yes and No, depending on how many comet goldfish you are planning to have.Telescope goldfish eyes cause them to have poor vision so they are not a good competitor for food, comet goldfish will scarf up all the food before your Calico gets a nibble. These fish will thrive best housed with the other similarly handicapped fish including the Black Moor and the less hardy Bubble Eye Goldfish Lionhead Goldfish, and Celestial Goldfish.
Yes. Interbreeding between all the goldfish types can happen, these 2 being the most likely to mate.
Yes of course
NO! Black Moors are goldfish they should be fed goldfish food.
Not particularly. Black Moors are Goldfish. They are not schooling fish. Each goldfish needs at least 10 gallons of water so if you want to keep a few of them you will need a large tank.
Most goldfish which are purchased with black coloring, except black moors, will usually lose their black coloring at some point in their lives.
Black Moors are goldfish and as such they will normally spawn in springtime as the water temperature rises over 65F.
Nope! Black Moors and other black goldfish get along fine with almost any sort of fancy goldfish.
No, they are the same as most other fancy goldfish having vision in both eyes.
Black moors are a variety of goldfish which are egg layers so they can't get pregnant.
It depends. A feeder goldfish lives to be about 2 years old. A fancy goldfish, (Black Moors, Fantails, etc...) can live to twenty years or more with proper care.
Black moor fish mix well with other fancy goldfish, but as black moors have poor vision they would be better with other poor vision fish like telescope goldfish or bubble eye as not to have to compete for food finding.
Try bottom cleaners, algae eaters, black moors, and guppies for sure.
It seems quite small, don't you think a bigger tank would be better?
they are black that have long flowing fins and bulging eyes simaliar to a telscopic goldfish the most not be kept with common or comet goldfish they also are visually impared ! overall they are a beautiful and playful breed of cold water fish!!!
