No, unless you don't like your hamster at all and want it to die from a heart attack.

Try feeding them some Banana chips, sunflower seeds, unsalted peanuts, carrot or a small amount of broccoli. Only a small bit of broccoli as it could give them Diarrhea, which can be fatal.

Yes, they can. But no, they probably shouldn't. It will mess with their delicate stomachs and give them diarrhea. This is the usual case with anything greasy or oily as they shouldn't be eating such foods.

You should get a book about your specific hamster breed so you can find out exactly what diet you should be feeding your hamster as it can vary depending on subspecies.

Usually, the bagged food from a petfood store (not a pet store) is a good safe bet. Their employees are usually dedicated to pets and their specific diets and tend to be knowledgeable about the animals in which they sell food for or at least know where to point you in case they don't.

The reason I say not a pet store is because I try not to give money to those places because that is helping out breeding factories and I don't like that. I try to go to pet food stores that specifically help out local adoption and rescue agencies instead.

There are of course exceptions when you must use a pet store. Depending on where you live, it might be impossible to find a petfood store, so you will have to use your own judgement there.

So, to sum up:

• Use petfood from a petfood store or if you've no choice, a pet store.

• Get professional advice about your hamster breed and their nutritional needs as soon as (or better, before) you have one.

• Try to do a bit of research on your pet's food needs first, and of course, avoid greasy foods at all costs!

• Remember, they may seem to enjoy it, but it will come back to haunt them (and you) and at the very least, the cleanup will not be fun!!
