How do females make testosterone?

Does Endocrine Glands have multiple glands?

There are many glands that make up the endocrine glands. These glands include the pancreas, the thymus gland, the pituitary gland, the pineal glands, and the adrenal glands.

Cells of the adrenal cortex produce?

adrenal glandEither of two small triangular endocrine glandslocated on top of the kidneys. In humans, each gland weighs about 0.18 oz (5 g) and consists of an inner medulla, which produces the catecholamine hormones epinephrineand norepinephrine, and an outer cortex (about 90% of the gland), which secretes the steroidhormones aldosterone, cortisol, and androgens(the last two in response to acthfrom the pituitary-gland). Diseases of the adrenal glands include pheochromocytoma (a tumour of the medulla) and the cortical disorders addison-s-disease, adrenal hypertrophy, cushing-s-syndrome, and primary aldosteronism.

What are 3 important glands in your body?

steroid hormones are the steroids which acts as a hormones.steroid hormones are nothing but the androgen, estrogen, progesterone and mineralocorticoids and glucocorticoids.ADRENAL GLAND;it is anatomically divided into 2 parts.adrenal medulla and adrenal cortex.again adrenal cortex contains following layers.zonaglomerulosa, zonafasiculata, and zona reticularis.zonaglomerulosa secretes mineralocorticoids.zonafasiculata secretes glucocorticoids.zonareticularis secretes androgen and estrogen .the principle mineralocorticoids is aldosteron while principle glucocorticoid is cortisol.while androgen are nothing but the testosterone and estrogen nothing the estrogen and progesterone.TESTIS;it secretes mainly testosterone which is a kind of androgen,.OVARY;it secretes mainly estrogen and progesterone also a kind of steroid hormones.these are in turn under control by anterior pituitary by F SH,LH,ACTH hormones.again these F SH,LH and ACTH are under control of hypothalamus by corticotrophin releasing hormone ,gonadotrophin releasing hormone.

What is a group of cells that make special chemicals for your body?

Endocrine glands, which are special groups of cells, make hormones. The major endocrine glands are the pituitary, pineal, thymus, thyroid, adrenal glands and pancreas. In addition, men produce hormones in their testes and women produce them in their ovaries.

What hormone increases excretion of electrolytes by the kidneys?

Aldosterone, secreted by the zona glomerulosa of the adrenal gland, will make your kidneys excrete more potassium and acid in urine, but it will make your kidneys absorb more sodium.

Is both an endocrine and an exocrine gland?

What is a hormone produced by adrenal glands?

The adrenal glands consist of the adrenal cortex and the adrenal medulla, which perform separate functions. The adrenal cortex, the outer portion of the adrenal gland, secretes hormones that have an effect on the body's metabolism, on chemicals in the blood, and on certain body characteristics. The adrenal cortex secretes corticosteroids and other hormones directly into the bloodstream. The hormones produced by the adrenal cortex include:· corticosteroid hormoneso hydrocortisone hormone - this hormone, also known as cortisol, controls the body's use of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates.o corticosterone - this hormone, together with hydrocortisone hormones, suppresses inflammatory reactions in the body and also affects the immune system.· aldosterone hormone - this hormone inhibits the level of sodium excreted into the urine, maintaining blood volume and blood pressure.· androgenic steroids (androgen hormones) - these hormones have minimal effect on the development of male characteristics. The adrenal medulla, the inner part of the adrenal gland, is not essential, but helps in coping with physical and emotional stress. The adrenal medulla secretes the following hormones:· epinephrine (also called adrenaline) - this hormone increases the heart rate and force of heart contractions, facilitates blood flow to the muscles and brain, causes relaxation of smooth muscles, helps with conversion of glycogen to glucose in the liver, and other activities.· norepinephrine (also called noradrenaline) - this hormone has strong vasoconstrictive effects, thus increasing blood pressure.
