Over 90% of adults will suffer from at least one bout of hemorrhoids in his/her lifetime. For millions of us, hemorrhoids will be an all too common source of distress each year. When the burning, itching, and intense pain hits we will scramble for relief where ever we can find it. But with all of the various hemorrhoid treatments available, what is available and which are the most effective?

Hemorrhoid treatment options can be narrowed down to four general categories: surgical, non-surgical, over-the-counter, and natural.

Surgical

Most modern surgical procedures for hemorrhoids are done with lasers. The basic process involves a skilled surgeon using a special laser scalpel to cut off the inflamed hemorrhoid tissue. Surgical hemorrhoid treatments are by their very nature physically invasive and relatively expensive. They are generally considered "treatments of last resort".

Non-Surgical

There are at least five types of doctor-administered non-surgical hemorrhoid treatments. Some are used for external hemorrhoids- hemorrhoidectomy, laser coagulation and infrared photo coagulation. Other methods are used to treat internal hemorrhoids including injection sclerotherapy and rubber band ligation. Although these are non-surgical treatments, they are still intrusive and expensive.

Over-The-Counter

Medicated pads, creams, ointments, and suppositories are the most common topical treatments for hemorrhoids. One of the most popular over-the-counter hemorrhoid treatments is a sitz bath. This involves soaking the pelvic region in warm water. Although these products can provide timely relief for the some of excruciating symptoms, they are only temporary measures and have no capacity to prevent the recurrence of hemorrhoids.

Natural

There are four general categories of natural treatment options for hemorrhoids: diet, lifestyle, herbs and supplements/vitamins. Each of these areas is important and integral to the others. Although it is possible to obtain relief from hemorrhoids by focusing on only one or two of these categories, the best approach is to address all four.

When you combine a diet high in natural fiber, with some very basic changes to your lifestyle, take a couple of hemorrhoid friendly herbs, and back it all up with one or two key supplements you are almost guaranteed to be hemorrhoid free for life

In fact, a comprehensive, natural approach is the ONLY treatment that is highly effective at not only curing existing hemorrhoids but also preventing any recurrence.

Definitely hemorrhoids can be cured.

There are surgical methods as well as herbal methods to cure hemorrhoids. The word "cure" is all over the net with regards to hemorrhoids. THE ONLY WAY (INCLUDING SURGERY) to cure hemorrhoids permanently is to change your diet and start to exercise. Even after surgery hemorrhoids can make a repeat performance if you don't change your eating and exercise habits. Don't believe all the crap that's being told to you (sold to you) on the web. If you have any further questions check out the hemorrhoid information center.
