The only kind of meat horses will/may eat are what you would normally put on your sandwhich. These meats have no scent of blood and the smell of the food itself may be oddly appealing to horses.
Sandwich meat should never be given too frequently (if any at all) and only in very small amounts.

∙ 13y agoIf you were to wave a steak under a horse's nose, they would not eat it as they are herbivores and eat plants, not other animals. Perhaps you are mistaken for Thestrals? They do eat meat and live in the Forbidden Forest in the Hogwart's grounds. If you get the Hogwarts Express on the 1st September (Platform 9 3/4) you can test this theory out.

∙ 8y agoAbsolutely not. Horses are strict herbivores and should not be given meat of any kind as they cannot digest it and it could cause colic. Horses may grab the occasional hamburger or sandwich from someone's hand, and though this typically does not hurt them they are not eating it because they crave meat, they are eating because they are either hungry or curious, or were taught that it was 'cute' to steal food from people.
In some cultures fish were fed to horses in the winter, along with boiled eggs. However this is not something that needs to be done in modern times with better feed choices available.
