I think horses are supposed to stik to raods and bridleways rather than footpaths.
Americans'* do have footpaths but they call them 'sidewalks'
The width of a footpath can vary a great deal.
Usually you just wait until snows and just walk around or walk on the grass but footpaths only last a few second.
