You can declare yourself anything you want! It makes no difference until you file the court papers properly. Now, what is it you declared? DON'T ASK US..YOUR THE ONE WHO DECLARED SOMETHING. Better read what you filed and declared. Can you contract for umbrellas? Or anything else? What promises did you make?
Of course you make contracts all the time, even after leaving from filing your Bk paperwork.....like when you parked your car in the lot...you've contracted to pay the fee when you return.
And remember all those times you signed the credit card receipt...each of those were sworn contracts about how you would pay exactly as agreed. Apparently you didn't care then, why now?
