If your knock sensor is giving a true reading, you are probably using a fuel that does not meet the octane requirement of your engine. Could you possibly have filled up with 85% ethanol? If you continue running the engine while it is knocking, you will damage the pistons and experience run-on or dieseling. If your knock sensor is giving a false reading, you won't experience engine damage but you will get lousy gas mileage because the computer will try to retard your timing and change the fuel/air mix. Get it fixed. It is cheap.
As you are looking at your truck from the front the knock sensor shoud be on the passenger side right under the manifolds
