it wouldn't hurt to mix the oils, I mixed 5w30 and 10w30 in my 1986 Lincoln town car because 5w30 bled right through, seeing as it leaked from everywhere, I probably went through a liter a week. Straight 10w30 leaked maybe a liter a month, but caused the engine to run much rougher. After mixing the two, I went through a liter every 2-2.5 weeks and the engine ran fine
No worries. If 10w30 was suited for your current climate then your new mixture will do just fine. If you needed to use 5w30 because the temps are still below zero in your area, then you may want to change to entirely 5w30. I remember hearing about people with LS1's in their Camaros mixing 4 qts of Mobil 1 10w30 and 2 qts of 15w50 in order to achieve a mix that was similar to a 10w40.
Yes
You should never MIX different weights of oil. The above answer is correct, but if you find yourself in one of those unavoidable situations where you have no choice, go ahead and mix whatever you have to. It's better for the crankcase to be full than to have exactly the right oil in it. If it really grabs at your conscience, change the oil and filter as soon as you can.
Only if it is a 2 cycle engine and you mix the oil with the gasoline. If it is a 4 cycle engine, then using 2 cycle oil will destroy the engine over time. Use SAE 10w30 synthetic oil in your air cooled 4 cycle engine.
No it is 4 cycle oil, 2 cycles is the only oil you mix with gas for 2 cycle engines. They may be referring to a syn/ conventional oil mix that they have preformed to improve their oil. It will work fine in your 4 cycle engine as long as it is the correct weight for your engine. As long as it is like 10w30 you should be good to go.
You can use synthetic oil but I would not recommend 5w40. Use the exact weight oil as recommended by your owner's manual. Depending on the year it can be 10w30 or 5w30. 5w40 has not been used for many years. You can even mix synthetic with conventional oil.
Any name brand 10w30 would be fine. Don't mix synthetic and non-synthetic oils.
5w40 are when it hot like it is no use thicker oil right now I'm using 20w50 its just going to thin out I suggest that u use the right amount maybe 1 quart Sorry, But the above answer will cost you a motor in the long run. FACTORY says to use 5W30 Weight in the COLD months and 10W30 weight in the HOT months. If you run any heaver oil then 10W30 it will burn the valvetrain up in the engine over time. That engine has a roller valve train in it and heavy oil can not lube the roller lifters because it's to thick. You should never MIX oil brands or oil weights.
Even if you can it's not a good idea. These oils have different viscosity and might have different chemical content. When you mix the oils it can change their mechanical properties and the oil will not be as good as when they are separate. You can get special additives to tune 5w20 in something in between 5w20 and 5w30.
Nothing if they were approved oils. You can mix 10w30 with 5w20 etc. Not a good idea but you can do it. You can mix brands with no problem.
Yes, as long as the ambient temperature is above fifty degrees.
