To remove an icon from the system tray, click on Start. Then click on the Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, and then Task Bar and Start Menu. Choose the Notification Area tab and uncheck all the boxes corresponding to the icons to be removed. Lastly, click Apply and then OK.

- From the registry editor directory tree, browse to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify
- Delete IconStreams and PasteIconStreams from the list
- Exit the registry editor, restart your computer and the old unused items in the notification area should now be gone.
