It depends on how much your teeth have shifted. If you can get your retainer back in your mouth, you probably don't need to go back into braces. If you are simply not self-disciplined enough to wear a removable retainer, ask your orthodontist for a fixed retainer. This will be some sort of metal bar or wire that is cemented in place.

I have to wear a retainer, and i bite my nails. Apperently you cant bite your nails when your have your retainer, but its pretty easy to. Not very hard.
