FDA has approved Tylenol for under 6 months.
No good studies have been done to see if ibuprofen/Motrin is safe. It should be and if kiddo is over 2 months, and has a fever with a source (know from where) then Ibuprofen should be fine if Tylenol isn't quite enough.
Under 2 months -- you need to be checked by an MD as may have a serious bacterial infection needing possible advanced ER/Hospital care.
The maximum amount of ibuprofen in 24 hours is 3200 mg
Nothing is completely safe, but Advil (ibuprofen) is considered one of the safer choices for pain relief. Not much of it is excreted in breast milk, and it's commonly given to infants anyway. One study found that a mother taking 1 200 mg tablet of Advil every four hours (1.2 grams daily) had a daily total of about 100 micrograms of ibuprofen in her breast milk. Since the average therapeutic dose for infants is 30 milligrams/kg daily, this is only a few hundredths of a percent of the amount a doctor would normally prescribe for an infant.
i a couple of hours ago and i´m still here.
4 to 6 hours after
Why not the effects of the ibuprofen are leaving your system wine should have no impact. After a minor surgery my doctor recommend 3 ibuprofen and a drink to kill the pain. Worked for me.
Since Darvocet has Tylenol in it, you cannot take them within 4 hours of each other. Try alternating Darvocet with ibuprofen - take the ibuprofen every 6 to 8 hours, and if you need Darvocet, take it at least 3 hours after the ibuprofen. That way, you won't get too much Tylenol, but it will relieve your pain better.
Due to the risk of increased bleeding, wait 8 hours after aspirin to take ibuprofen and another 8 to take aspirin again.
