If somebody lies to you with the intention of not wanting to ruin what you two have then it's a foolish move with most likely good intentions, however if you've been lied to so a blow could be softened (for example; "I didn't want to tell you I cheated on you because I still want to be with you") then I wouldn't bother trying to rekindle the fire that you once had with that person. It's important to remember that however much the truth may hurt someone it's almost always the right thing to tell them, the bottom line is you've been lied to.
You could look at it with the view of: What I have with this person makes me forgive them for lying to me. But that view can often lead to problems and is probably no longer useful to you as one of the categories you've placed this question in is "Breakups".
The right thing to do mate is probably just accept you've been lied to and move on in your own time.
