I washed my Lyocell t-shirt in the washing machine and yes it did shink. Wash temperature was 50 degrees ;(
Soft, thin fabric
Yes, cotton, wool, silk and linen do shrink. This is mostly because the way the fibers are made into thread involves twisting them, and in the wash, the twists get tighter, causing the fabric to shrink. Synthetic fabrics are made from continuous filaments, and therefore do not shrink. Some synthetic fabrics will wrinkle badly, causing the fabric to appear to shrink, because of the crinkling of the fabric.
The reason why clothes shrink when we wash them is because we wash them in cold water. Try washing them in warm water and do not add to much fabric softener because it can also ruin your clothes.
Wash them in warm/hot water and put in the dryer. Remember that all shirts won't shrink - it all depends on the fabric as well as whether they were pre-shrunk. Even if they were pre-shrunk most shirts shrink a little bit.
How do you wash modal fabric?
Cotton twill does shrink a little when first laundered. If you are using cotton twill to sew clothing you should launder it first to allow it to shrink before you begin. The amount of shrinkage you get depends on if you wash the fabric in hot, warm or cold water.

im sure someone in the world knows how. but i can offer an alternative. instead of taking fabric off of the shirt, you could try adding fabric to make the neckhole smaller. i dont know how it will look on the shirt you want to shrink. but im sure you have seen those t shirts that look like they have another shirt underneath but really it is just extra fabric extending the sleeves. the same method can be applied to the neckhole or any fabric hole in general. Shrinking the neck slightly can also be done by ironing the neck using steam IF the fabric allows for ironing. Simply check the label to insure it won't damage the fabric.
"Shrink" typically goes with the preposition "from," as in "The fabric shrank from hot water."
cotton? LOL
yes if you wash it, it will fall apart.
It was in the wash for a whole fortnight.
