Mastoiditis can cause hearing loss which may result in tinnitus.
The epidural numbs the body from the waist down but doesn't cause you to go to sleep. However in some procedures, they also give you a sedating medication which wipes out all memory of the procedure and events in the OR.
when you get the epidural could you get swelling?
no
Tinnitus? Ringing in the ears? Doubtful...unless you got your ear tattooed, maybe.
Yes <1%
No. That is just not possible.
Yes, chemicals can cause permanent ear ringing (tinnitus). The chemicals which are best studied include aminoglycosides (a type of antibiotic, such as gentamycin). Not only do these chemicals cause tinnitus, but also deafness. There are many other medications which can cause tinnitus, which is often dose related. In addition there are countless chemicals which can cause tinnitus upon exposure. Most of these chemicals come with an MSDS sheet to explain the risks of exposure.
Yes, hearing aids can relieve tinnitus if it is caused by presbycusis. If presbycusis is not the cause of the tinnitus, hearing aids will not help at all.
For most patients, the only painful part of the epidural procedure is the numbing of the lower back before the epidural is placed, which does cause a momentary stinging or burning sensation. The insertion of the epidural itself is usually felt as just pressure. In the hours and days following delivery, some women experience discomfort in the lower back where the needle was placed, but this is rarely a significant problem.Source: http://www.lifelinetomodernmedicine.com/ArticlePage.aspx?ID=302a85f8-7135-4174-bd4c-2bc4ad7e04c2&LandingID=fc6eb1da-98e4-43c7-bb9f-09c17e2a005d
I have had 3 kids & 10 epidural's all together & the back pain is coming from that. The doctor should have told you that getting an epidural could cause back pains in your future. After my 1st child I had back pains up to a year later.
