However, if you or your recipient use a company email address and IF the company mail server processes only in batches at specific times of the day then the recipient will not be able to access that particular mail until the company's email server has put it in his inbox - this is rare and depends widely on policies in that organization ! In most cases - its is instantaneous. And the email doesn't "travel" form the geographic location of the sender to the geographic location of the receiver - rather it travels between the Email servers for the service providers of the sender and receiver.
