Yes it can be possible.
While it may seem like God changed His mind in the Old and New Testaments this is simply not the case. God is Immutable.Meaning, God's unchanging in His character, will and covenant promises. "The Westminster Shorter Catechism says, 'God is a spirit, whose being, wisdom power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth are infinite, eternal, and unchangeable." Those things do not change. A number of Scriptures attest to this idea (e.g. Num. 23:19; 1 Sam. 15:29; Ps. 102:26; Mal. 3:6; 2 Tim. 2:13; Heb. 6:17-18; Jam. 1:17)"1 Those verses speak specifically on God's unchanging nature. The last line of the CARM article, I thought, summarized it beautifully, "
We are the ones who need to have our wills changed according to his desires, not His will changed according to our prayers."2
Depends on what you pray for and if you've been nice. If it's too big or if God thinks you don't deserve it, you don't get it. But if you pray for something reasonable and you've been acting Christian-like he'll probably grant it.
Prayers
Prayer helps people who believe in a god or gods, they believe God will ALWAYS answer your prayers.
Sacrifice was the means by which prayers were lifted to the abode of the gods in the heavens. The smoke from the burning sacrifice carried the prayers of the faithful.
No; prayer was to honor the gods and to bring requests to their attention.

To praise the gods.
In the mind
Prayers are an active attempt to influence the gods (male, female, uppercase, lowercase, singular or plural) to intercede on your part to have something change or occur. If all you do in pray about something you can influence, by thought or deed, then you are only going half way. Foe example if you pray to have your debts paid, but refuse to go out and look for an extra income, or paying job, then your prayers most likely won't be answered. There is an expression, "The gods feed the birds, but they don't drop food into the nest." If you are praying for something that is entirely out of your control; for example, the safety of a friend or family member in a combat situation, then your prayers will be heard, and it is up to the gods to decide if they will answer you. Sometimes there is a bigger plan involved and we are unable to see the entirety of it.
Different religions have different beliefs about where God resides. In Christianity, God is believed to be omnipresent and transcendent, meaning He is everywhere and beyond any particular physical location. In Islam, God is believed to be above the heavens but also omnipresent. In Hinduism, different gods have different symbolic abodes, such as Mount Kailash for Lord Shiva. Ultimately, the idea of God's "home" varies based on different cultural and religious beliefs.
