Rats are natural predators of mice and are known to hunt and kill them. They may occupy the same space in the wild since they have similar diets and needs but this would still result in some casualties on the side of the mice.

Only if raised together from when they were babies, or if a rat urses baby mice in her litter, or if a lone rat is very, very lonely it may accept a mouse as a friend, but usually rats kill mice.

No because rats are over three times the size of mice, and both mice and rats need to eat things with protein in it. You stick a mouse in with a rat, you are basically giving the rat a protein filled meal. Don't do it.

Granted there is the odd animals that seem to get along, but I wouldn't risk it.

They're not known to be, but there are cases where it works. Males are more likely to attack newcomers/mice, while females are more likely to accept others.

Yes, but you have you have the rats in one room with the door closed and they have a roomy cage, and the cats go everywhere. Just make sure to take out the rats and play with them.

No rats instinctively kill all mice they can, its called muricide. Mice have a instinctive fear of rats because of it.
