The word "broadcasting" in Spanish is usually taken for granted when you speak of radio and television. Radio has survived because of its simplicity - a radio is cheap and easy to use. Radio has also always had the latest music on it, so it is great for listening to music, but internet and TV music stations have only recently appeared. Some people would also say that the quality of programmes is better than TV as the lack of an image means that good scripting is essential.
