I don't see why not. My uncle's dog used to swim in a chlorinated pool all the time. Although, he ate human food instead of dog food....maybe he was rare!
Chlorine is a poisonous gas usually used in swimming pools, when breathed in, it can be very dangerous and harmful but used in swimming pools it is highly diluted and if only swallowed occasionally, is harmless. If people swim in chlorinated pools regularly, then their hair can become lighter, although if a persons hair is very blonde, almost white, then long periods in swimming pools can lead to hair gaining a greenish tinge, which can be washed out in a shower or bath. Overall chlorine is dangerous as a gas in air but is harmless in swimming pools, and there are no long term effects.

Salt water pools are becoming more common as people find that they are a little more refreshing to swim in. Also, as chlorine tends to bother some, salt pools might be a good alternative.
If a person is allergic to bleach they should not swim in a pool. Most pools contain chlorine, which is a form of bleach used to disinfect and sanitize water.
NOT ALL POOLS NEED CHLORINE. Salt Water pools are cleaner and do not harm the environment. I too am allergic to chlorine. It affects more than just my eyes. When I swim in pools with chlorine, I get upper respiratory and bladder infections. I too am having difficulty locating a non-chlorine public alternative. Because chlorine is cheaper than salt and most people aren't allergic to the levels used in public swimming pools; most municipalities choose that option. What I would recommend is that you call the local Parks & Recreations Office and ask them if there are any public salt water pools.
Only if you swim in chlorine pools. Swimming in a lake or river can add infection to open cuts.
chlorine is used in pools to disinfect them.
