Rule of thumb, if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, it ain't coming out, replace the windshield.
There are two ypes of windshield scratches. If it feels smooth when you run your fingernail over it, then it is a surface scratch and can be repaired at home. If your fingernail catches it when you run it over the scratch, it can not be repaired. For surface scratches, a windshield repair kit from any automotive shop will do the trick.

I don't believe there would be a product that would magically fix the pits and scratches. The key would be prevention. Try getting a plastic film that can tightly go over your windshield that doesn't obstruct your view. Then it can be peeled off after dust storms or sand messes it up.
Hard drives platter surface is highly sensitive to scratches. To prevent damage to the surface it is fixed.
Take it to a glass shop or body shop to have it fixed. Depending on the kind of car you have is what changes on where you take it. That is what you have to decide.
